Trigger one and every other detector in the property sounds, which is the whole point of interlinking. It exists to solve one specific problem: getting a properly interlinked system into a finished house without ripping it apart. Hard-wiring an interlink through a plastered, carpeted, occupied home means chases, lifted boards and making good. Radio interlinking removes almost all of that. The design work is identical to any other alarm installation. Optical smoke detectors on escape routes and landings, heat detectors in kitchens and garages where cooking fumes would cause endless false alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors wherever there is a fuel-burning appliance. The detector schedule, the positions and the pairing all need to be right, and there are a few things worth understanding before you choose radio over cable. How radio interlinking worksEach detector contains a radio module and is paired to the others during installation, forming one group. When any unit detects smoke, heat or carbon monoxide it transmits to the rest of the group, and every alarm in the property sounds. Signal reliability is the thing to get right.
